Daniel
D. Tran, M.D., FACS is an Assistant Professor
of Surgery at Howard University College of Medicine
(HUCM). Dr. Tran is an attending surgeon at the Howard
University Center for Wellness and Weight Loss Surgery.
He also serves as the Co-Director of the Advanced Laparoscopic
and Bariatric Fellowship Training Program.
Dr. Tran is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified
in General Surgery as well as Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Tran is a Bariatric
Center of Excellent Surgeon as designated by the American Society for Metabolic
and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Dr. Tran has an extensive background in minimally invasive bariatric surgery.
He has performed over 1500 laparoscopic bariatric operations of which more than
150 were performed using the Davinci Robotic System.
Dr. Tran obtained his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine
and completed his residency there as well. He subsequently received his fellowship
training at Yale University. He then remained on staff as a faculty member and
developed the bariatric surgery program at Bridgeport Hospital. Dr. Tran was
the first surgeon in the Metro DC area to perform minimally invasive weight loss
surgery using the Da Vinci Robot Surgical System. The results of surgery performed
using this system have been excellent.
Dr. Tran holds membership in the American College of Surgeons, American Society
for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Society of American Gastrointestinal and
Endoscopic Surgeons, and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
